Fowler’s Roost

Fowler’s Roost

John & Jane approached us to build them a house to retire to. Jane mentioned she’d been interested in Properties we’d had for sale in the past but each time they’d sold prior to her offer.

She purchased the land and with the help of Tony Ansell planning won planning , she then issued us with the drawings and we priced accordingly.

The Stone stairs is fabulous and with the help of the most amazing lifting equipement was fitted prior to plastering. Very nervous times for us as a contractor.

My favourite is the entrance and window on the stairs which after many designs and the lads in our joinery shop helping with templates we achieved a somewhat remarkable and should I say “never to be repeated”

I should mention the Stonework of which each face was dressed under the scrutiny of Derek our stonemason.

Once again thankyou for Jane & John for the work and to the team, we are few but it always works….

Ashby Folville 2019

Peter Moore approach us to convert a derelict barn he had previously purchased, and had got Permitted development to convert into Holiday Accomodation.

Between Peter, Adam & I we designed and constructed what we feel was a fabulous place to stay and is currently fully booked with orders.

You can rent the property see link: https://knottinghillbarnhouse.com/

My favourite was the spiral stairs which at first , I had clearly said it was not possible, but with the clients persevered and with the help of Sean Palfrey Fabricator the impossible happened.

Once again thankyou to the team and thankyou Peter for employing us!!

Wing 2019

Wing

Robert & Fran approached us due to previous contractors failing to meet their requirements, as Matt & I have an eye for older property detail, this was a delight.

Robert & Fran have a great flair for design and the final outcome was abit special. We feel that we’ve kept the original character  of the property which due to a fire had been lost.

With the use of original photos a passion for old properties  and  decent conservation contractors this was achieved.

We would like to thank everyone who worked on it THANKYOU!

Most interesting parts of the contract was the original stairs which had to be built in situ  due to the different (original)levels in floors and the mixer of limeplaster & Gypsum universal one coat that complimented each other.

Matt & I have been using this material for many years and we were really impressed how the new and old technics were almost invisible to the trained eye.

Award Winning Renovation in Wing, Rutland

The renovation and extension of fire-damaged Grade II-listed building Garden Cottage in Wing, Rutland, nominated by Corporate Architecture Ltd, was the
winner of the fbe-sponsored Small Residential Project of the Year Award, with the judges commenting: “The judges were really impressed with the effort, commitment and dedication from everyone concerned with the renovation and restoration of this important listed building. It is always a challenge to protect the heritage whilst adapting buildings to modern ways of living and this seems to be an exemplar of how to do it with grace and elegance. It’s also wonderful to see the high levels of craftsmanship and
attention to historic detail whilst accommodating all the necessary modern technology. A truly impressive project.”
Brown and Jones was the main contractor for the scheme. John Foulkes-Arnold Associates Ltd was the quantity surveyor and Crawford the loss adjuster.

Clipsham 2018

Clipsham

We were contacted by Harris McCormack Architects of Wansford in 2017 to construct this art gallery for Deborah & Mark, the brief was for minimalist design glazed rooflights running the length of the building, fully glazed box room, no skirtings tumbled Balanstone limestone flooring that runs level from inside to outside to bring the outside in.

Barleythorpe 2018

Barleythorpe

Approached by Kate & Simon Holt to renovate a cottage which was in rather a poor state,

We removed the rear elevation and fitted a very simple oak frame in order to give a nice open space.

Kate has a great eye for detail and with the help of Adam our site manager, together created a exceptional quirky cottage, we went for minimum look, with no skirtings and cills which as you can see in the photos looks in keeping with the age and style of property.

The lighting is my favourite part of the build with fittings supplied by Kate. French Limestone floors are Stunning. Oak frame & Windows by the boys in the work shop. Great job to all that worked on her. Thank you.
